A fall is another name for a half wig. Falls and half wigs are made to give you volume and some times length while providing more coverage at the crown of the hair. While a wig covers the hair, the biological hair is still visible with half wigs. Think of half wigs as reverse extensions where they add volume (and sometimes length) to the top of the hair rather than the bottom.

Because your biological hair is still visible, you’ll have to make sure the hair texture of the half wig matches your natural hair. Learning to care and maintain your falls and half wigs play a pivotal role in how long they’ll last. Use these tips to prolong the life of your fall and half wig:

• Wash every 6-8 wears.
• Use a wide tooth comb to brush and detangle the hair fibers. Also, be sure to use a detangling spray for synthetic fibers.
• Use care and styling products specifically made for wigs and formulated for each fiber, especially shampoos and conditioners.
• When you’re doing wearing your fall or half wig, place it on a wig stand or store it safely in its wig box.

Securing your falls and half wigs vary across styles. Some attach with a thin piece of elastic that blends into your hair. Some have elastic bands that run across either the top of your head or around the sides.
