Wig Care

Hair toppers are a great way to add volume and coverage, but proper care is key to keeping them looking their best. The washing process varies depending on whether your topper is synthetic or human hair, so following the correct steps will help protect the fibers, prevent tangling, and extend its lifespan.

1. Detangle

Gently detangle the hair using a wide-tooth comb before washing. Start from the ends and work toward the root to minimize shedding and prevent damage.

2. Rinse

Use cool water to carefully rinse from root to tips. Do not soak the topper, as this can loosen the knots and lead to tangling.

3. Shampoo

Lather a small amount of shampoo in your hands. Gently massage the shampoo into the cap, then work it through the hair. Distribute evenly, but avoid scrubbing or rubbing the fibers. A small amount evenly distributed will do just fine.

4. Rinse

Thoroughly rinse out all shampoo with cool water. Gently squeeze out excess water—do not wring or twist.

5. Comb & Condition

Starting at the ends, comb through gently with a wide-tooth comb. Part the hair in the desired location. Place the topper on a wig stand and lightly spray a leave-in conditioner from mid-length to ends (about 4 pumps).  Avoid the roots and knots to prevent loosening the hair.

6. Dry

Let the topper air dry overnight on a wig stand to maintain its shape. Synthetic toppers should always air dry to maintain their fiber integrity.

1. Detangle

Gently detangle the hair with a wide-tooth comb before washing. Start from the ends and work upward to minimize shedding.

2. Rinse

Use lukewarm or cool water to rinse from root to tips. Do not soak or rub the hair, as this can loosen the knots and cause tangling.

3. Shampoo

Lather a small amount of hydrating shampoo in your hands. Gently massage it into the cap before working it through the hair.  Rinse thoroughly to remove all shampoo residue.

4. Condition

Squeeze a quarter-sized amount of intensive recovery conditioner into your hands. Apply from mid-length to ends, avoiding the knots and roots. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

5. Comb

After rinsing, gently squeeze out excess water and pat dry with a towel. Starting at the ends, comb through gently with a wide-tooth comb. Part the hair as desired and set the topper on a wig stand to air dry to about 80%.

6. Blow-Dry & Heat Style (For Human Hair Toppers Only)

Secure the topper to a canvas blockhead using the clips, taking care to avoid clipping into the cap. Lightly spritz about 4 pumps of the 3-In-1 Miracle Protect from mid-length to ends. Section the hair and blow-dry each section individually using a boar bristle brush to smooth the cuticle. Heat-style as desired for a polished finish.
