Trending Haircuts: Curtain Bangs

What Are Curtain Bangs?

Hairstyles with bangs have surged in popularity over the last couple of years. With viral hairstyles, such as the wolf cut and butterfly cut, everyone is adding bangs to their look. There is one particular type of bang that has become very popular - the curtain bang.

Curtain bangs, a hairstyle that originated in the 1960s, have regained popularity for their timeless charm and versatility. They are a style of fringe that falls to the cheekbones on either side of the face. The middle of the forehead is left bare, creating the effect of an opening curtain. They can be worn short or long, depending on your style. Their universal appeal lies in their ability to flatter nearly all hairstyles and textures.

What Face Shapes Suit Curtain Bangs?

One of the best things about curtain bangs is their versatility—they effortlessly complement almost all face shapes and hairstyles. What makes them so desirable is their easy customization to adapt to your haircut.

Oval-shaped faces: Curtain bangs are incredibly versatile for this face shape and can be worn at any length, enhancing the natural symmetry.

Round-shaped faces: Longer curtain bangs that graze the cheekbones add definition and create the illusion of a more elongated face.

Heart-shaped faces: Curtain bangs that fall just below the cheekbones help balance the proportions of the face and soften the appearance of a wider forehead.

Square-shaped faces: Wispy curtain bangs gently frame the jawline, softening angular features and creating a more balanced look.

How to Style Curtain Bangs

Creating Curtains Bangs Out of Long Fringe

If your wig has longer bangs, you can easily style them to create a curtain effect. First, lightly mist the hair fibers with water. Next, use a wide tooth comb or your fingers to separate the bangs at the center. Then, take either hair spray or shaping cream to keep them in place. Now you have successfully created curtain bangs!

Round Brush Method for Human Hair Wigs

You can also use the round brush and blow dryer method if you’re working with a human hair wig with these quick and easy steps:

Step 1:  Once your wig is 80% dry, apply a heat protectant spray to the bangs. (Make sure they are still damp).

Step 2: Separate the bangs into two sections.

Step 3: Take one of the sections and place the round brush underneath the bangs. Avoid placing the brush directly on the roots to prevent damage or pulling out hair fibers.

Step 4: Now you can begin blow drying. Lift the brush upwards and gently wrap the hair around the bristles.

Step 5: Carefully bring the brush back down to slightly curl out the ends.

Step 6: Repeat the process on the other side.

Step 7: Enjoy your stunning curtain bangs for your next outing!
