The shag haircut has various layers in different lengths and incorporates brow-length fringe, choppy ends, and feathering along the top and sides to create a tousled appearance.  If you want a softer, more face-flattering hairstyle, look for wigs where the layers are more blended and feathered out.

A classic shag has brow-length bangs. A more modern shag has side-swept bangs or they are blended into the layers. If you want to customize your wig’s bangs, be sure to take it to a salon professional. 

While anyone can wear a shag, they look great on round, oval, and heart-shaped faces! The layers of the shag help elongate round faces. The bangs and layers help balance out the proportions of heart-shaped faces.  

We highly recommend taking your shag wig to a salon professional if you want to adjust the bangs or add more layers. Trying to customize your wig might damage the hair fibers and ruin the wig.

A shag sometimes gets mistaken for a mullet. A mullet is cut short in the front and sides. The back hair is left longer and is disconnected from the front at the ears. A shag has choppy layers that progressively get longer at the back.
