Hairdo FAQs

Are Hairdo Wigs made from synthetic or human hair?

Hairdo Wigs have endless styling versatility since their styles are made with both synthetic and human hair. The wigs are made with heat friendly synthetic fiber while the clip in extensions and top pieces are made with human hair. If you use heat on the wigs or hair pieces, remember to set the temperature on your styling tools no higher than 275. Otherwise, you’ll risk damaging the hair.

What types of cap constructions are available for Hairdo Wigs?

  • Basic cap wigs are designed by sewing sections of hair, also known as wefts, into a thin elastic material. The open spacing around the wefts allows air to pass through for a breathable style.
  • Lace front wigs give you a realistic hairline. The top front of the wig has a nearly invisible film of lace with very small hairs individually tied by hand into the material to give the illusion of hair growth.
  • Wigs with a monofilament part have a strip of sheer mesh fabric in the cap that allows the color of your own scalp to show through the fibers that are hand tied into the material. This cap construction creates the appearance of natural hair growth.

How should I care for and maintain the quality of my Hairdo Wig?

  • How you care for your wig plays a huge role in how long it’ll last and the kind of experience you’ll have with it. Some important tips to keep in mind:
  • Wash your wig every 6-8 wears.
  • Use styling and care products specially made for wigs and formulated for each fiber, especially shampoos and conditioners.
  • Detangle the wig hair often with a wide tooth comb. Also, be sure to use a detangling spray for synthetic fibers.
  • Place your wig on a wig stand or store it safely in its wig box for long term storage

Can Hairdo Wigs be trimmed or customized to achieve a unique style?

  • While you can customize or trim your wig, you run the risk of potentially damaging or ruining your wig. We highly recommend taking your wig to a salon professional if you want to trim the length or customize the style. If you are looking for a specific length, we have a great selection of wigs in various styles, colors, and lengths, so you can skip the trip to the salon and show off your new hairstyle!

What is the recommended method for determining the correct size when choosing a Hairdo Wig?

In order to find your wig size, you need to measure yourself for a wig. Since wig sizes come in petite, average, and large, it's important you find the right size. The wrong size will not only lead to an improperly fitting wig but also be uncomfortable to wear.

To measure yourself, get a flexible tape measure and take your head circumference measurement, ear to ear measurement, and front back measurement. When you’re done, compare your measurements with this chart to determine your wig size.

  • Expert Tip: Be sure to measure your head and take your measurements twice to ensure accurate results.

Here is how you can get your measurements:

  1. Head Circumference Measurement: To find your head circumference measurement, begin at the center of your front hairline. Keeping one end of the tape in place, guide the other end down towards one ear, ensuring it rests where your ear meets your head. Then, wrap the tape measure around the back of your head and aligning it with your nape. Next, wrap the tape measure around to the other ear. Finally, return to the starting point at your front hairline and record this measurement.
  2. Ear to Ear Measurement: Before taking your ear to ear measurement, you must first find your "top of head" point. Position the tape measure in the middle of your front hairline and measure it 7" towards the back of your head. When the tape measure reaches the 7" mark, that spot will be your "top of head" point. Once identified, move the tape measure to the top of one ear where it meets the head. From there, measure across the top of your head, ensuring the tape measure rests at the "top of head" point. Measure to the opposite ear and write down your measurement.
  3. Front Back Measurement: To determine your front to back measurement, begin by placing the tape measure in the center of your front hairline. Run it down the middle of your head until you reach the nape area, then record this measurement. Next, wrap the tape around to the other ear and back to the front hairline, recording this measurement as well.

Once you are done getting your measurements, compare your results with the guide below to determine your wig size.

  • Child sized wigs have 19” circumference and 12” ear to ear measurement and front to back measurement.
  • Petite wigs have 21” circumference, 13” ear to ear measurement, and 13.25” front to back measurement.
  • Petite/average wigs have 21.5” circumference, 13.25” ear to ear measurement, and 13.75” front to back measurement.
  • Average wigs have 22” circumference, 13.5” ear to ear measurement, and 14.25” front to back measurement.
  • Average/large wigs have 22.5” circumference, 13.75” ear to ear measurement, and 14.75” front to back measurement.
  • Large wigs have 23” circumference, 14” ear to ear measurement, and 15.5” front to back measurement.
